In Year of Ritual, I contemplate and fixate on the the minutiae surrounding major life events. With the documentarian assistance of my friends and family, I navigate the grief, jubilance, masculinity, mestizaje and social normativity that permeate my perspectives-- hoping to reach new places of love, understanding and acceptance.

Jaik from the Inside
A mutual aid-produced short documentary film about a prolific multimedia painter named Jaik Elliott. Jaik has spent much of his adult life within our carceral system and has a vivid story to tell that touches upon the intersections of disability, incarceration, systemic racism, community care, healthcare and capitalism.

The first personal documentary style work by Jonah Castañeda Barry made for the CAMS 296 course taught by Cecilia Cornejo and Jay Beck. The project is centered around the OCS (Off-campus studies) trip to Chile and Argentina, primarily employing haptic imagery and impressionistic, layered sound design.
